Kolín synagogue (finished in 1696) is one of the oldest and most significant sights of this kind in Bohemia. If you go through the semi-circle arcades from the central prayer room, you will enter the sideways areas which lead to women gallery upstairs. In the synagogue there is the original early baroque sanctuary (aron ha kodeš) from the end of 17th century. The synagogue was used for religious purposes till the perishing of the Jewish community in 1953.
